Press Release Call to Action: Get That Click

An effective press release or article does more than just index high in search engine rankings and capture the initial attention of potential customers. It goes a step further, motivating readers to click through to the company’s website. This is where the real opportunity to convert web browsers into customers lies.

So, how do you motivate readers to click through to your website? First, you have to be very careful about how much information and detail is provided in the published document—don’t tell readers everything they could possibly want to know. Instead, cover the basics of who, what, where, when, and why, then provide a reason readers should want find out more.

Next, include a call-to-action statement that specifically asks readers to take the next step to learn more. Be sure to provide a live link to your website in every news release you publish so that it’s easy for customers to follow through on the call to action.

It’s also a good idea to provide a telephone number and an email address as well. The more ways consumers have to get to you, the more likely they are to convert from web surfers to prospects (or customers who buy from you and refer other potential customers to you!).
